Manufacturing & Workshops

All manufacturing and workshop sites have a Testing and Tagging & Residual Current Device (RCD) Testing requirement for electrical equipment under AS/NZS 3760:2010. On this page you will find all the information that you need to know to position yourself, to ensure that your site is compliant with the appropriate
regulations.

Test Intervals

In the manufacturing industry in Australia, 6 monthly electrical Testing and Tagging is required to the AS/NZS 3760:2010 standard.

A place of manufacture/ factory and workshop would be classified as ‘open to abuse’ or a ‘Hostile Environment.

See our Office section for further information on your testing requirements for your office that is attached to your workshop factory.

Portable RCD’s are to be tested daily or before each use by carrying out a push button test of RCD.
A push button test is a test that requires you to press the ‘trip test button’ to ensure it is effective.

See our RCD section for more information.

Flexibility Allowed with the Testing Intervals?

In order to remain compliant to the standard you will need to adhere to the 3 monthly cycle, as stated in the section above.

There is a tolerance of 2 weeks allowed from renewal date for you to still achieve compliance.

One of the most common problems that we see in the construction industry, is that everyone is busy, and it’s very easy to miss these dates and not be compliant with the standards. We can help you by taking care of this responsibility for you. Our staff can contact your site manager several weeks before your testing is due. With this we can arrange a time for a site visit to re-test and tag all the RCD’s and provide you with your compliance reporting. This will enable you to get on with running your business hassle free.
